Forevermore

March 26, 2024 VOL.5 NO.11

DARKNESS: THE LAST WORDS OF JESUS // MARCH 29, 7PM CDT // FELLOWSHIP HALL
Join us Friday evening, March 29 for an agape feast, communion and candlelight program designed to reflect on the final moments Jesus spent on the cross. We hope this will be a meditative event that deepens your understanding of the sacrifice our Savior made in order to assure our ultimate salvation.

While families are welcome, please be advised that this program will conclude in darkness and silence, and therefore may not hold the attention of very young children. At this juncture we are not able to offer on-site child care.

To help us plan appropriately, please fill out this brief form indicating your potential attendance. We look forward to sharing this new and meaningful experience with you. For more information, contact Mindy Colvin in the church office.

FINISHED // MARCH 30, 9:00 & 11:30AM CDT // LEGACY AND MOSAIC SERVICES
Adam and Eve were banished from the garden. Moses ran away. Abraham lied. Samson gave away his strength. Peter denied he even knew Jesus So many stories of God's desire to connect with His creation seem to end in disarray. Unfinished.

On a dark Friday afternoon, all these tattered tales were brought to their triumphant conclusion when our Savior bowed his head and FINISHED everything that had come before. All the failures, all the mess - all finished with a single sacrifice.

Join us March 30 for FINISHED, a special Easter Sabbath service to celebrate the victory we receive in Christ Jesus!

The value of Easter is found in your forevermore story and is worthy of telling everyone everywhere. —Michael Demiar, YG Creative Director

DEVOTIONAL: CULTIVATING PERSEVERANCE
Distractions, challenges, and pressures define our culture. It’s easy to lose sight of our purpose and succumb to the patterns of the world. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to intentionally and consistently renew our minds and thoughts, aligning them with God’s will. Let’s explore this concept as we delve into Romans 12:2 which says:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

These words from the Apostle Paul remind us of the importance of actively resisting the influence of the world and its patterns. The world offers us a multitude of distractions, enticing us to conform to its values, ideologies, and pursuits. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to a different path. We are called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Cultivating perseverance begins with our thought life. Our thoughts shape our actions, attitudes, and ultimately our lives. Therefore, it is crucial that we intentionally renew our minds to align with God’s will. This process involves continually seeking God’s truth, meditating on His Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our thinking. It means replacing negative, worldly thoughts with thoughts that are pure, noble, and aligned with God’s character.

Renewing our minds requires discipline, consistency, and perseverance. It means actively guarding our hearts and minds against the influences that contradict God’s truth. It involves being discerning about the media we consume, the conversations we engage in, and the environments we choose to be a part of. It means surrounding ourselves with uplifting and encouraging influences that reinforce our faith and values.

In a culture that constantly bombards us with messages that contradict God’s truth, cultivating perseverance becomes an act of resistance. It is about intentionally choosing to swim against the current, to stand firm in our convictions, and to remain rooted in God’s Word. It means seeking God’s guidance and strength daily, relying on His Spirit to empower us to persevere.

As young adults, we face unique challenges and temptations in this fast-paced, ever-changing world. The pressure to conform can be overwhelming at times. But remember, you are not alone in this journey. God is with you, and He has equipped you with the power of His Spirit to persevere.

So let us embrace the call to cultivate perseverance in our lives. Let us commit to renewing our minds daily, aligning our thoughts with God’s will rather than conforming to the patterns of the world. Let us stand firm in our faith, even when it’s difficult or unpopular. And as we persevere, may we discover the beauty and depth of God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will for our lives.

Remember, the world may try to shape you, but you have the power to shape your thoughts and, in turn, shape your life. Persevere in renewing your mind, and you will see the transformative work of God taking place within you.

GRATITUDE

GLOBAL YOUTH DAY 2024
Jasmin Rodriguez offers this report on our intergenerational participation in the Keene-Fort Worth Global Youth Day initiative:

YG, thank you for the opportunity to lead! We had so many of our Pathfinders and Adventurers show up! FORM JH and UG made cards. YG’s Elora Wilson made twenty dozen cookies, half of which went to locations serving the homeless and the other half to nursing homes. Our YG team went to one of the nursing home locations that had not had young visitors for nearly five years.

“Nobody has came out here after COVID,” the nursing home residents shared, “and we thought y’all were not going to show up given the rain…"

BUT WE ALL DID! Global Youth Day truly was a glorious GODencounter! Young adults from our church stayed until the end of the night, all the way till 11:00PM. Thank you for this amazing opportunity and supporting it.

DOCTOR OF MINISTRY COHORT: INTERGENERATIONAL CHURCH
Earlier this month, I had the honor of teaching Relational Dynamics in the Intergenerational Church for Andrews University doctoral students convening at Loma Linda University. These students came from all over the world —Including the Republic of Texas <G>— and were a delight to engage with. I’m so grateful for the many guest lecturers who came alongside to pour into these seminary students and for the rich experience we had together.

Younger Generation Church is the vibrant young adult ministry of the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church. YG's mission is to deepen our devotion to Christ Jesus through:
