2022 // UNIT ARCHIVE

Experience the Wonder (recommended for January)

If we really want to learn, sometimes we have to experience things ourselves rather than just hear about them from other people. When not just our mind, but our heart and body come into contact with Jesus, we build connections with God that help us to follow him in new and exciting ways.

Backward (Recommended for February)

Jesus said a lot of things that seem to be exactly the opposite of what we naturally want to do. This month we’re learning that when we follow Jesus, sometimes doing things backward to our impulse means we actually move forward in relationship with Him.

THRILLER (RECOMMENDED FOR March)

The story of Jesus is full of unexpected twists and turns. Just when you think you know what Jesus is going to do, he does something completely different. He heals and forgives and saves in powerful ways we just don’t see coming. The best part of this story is that you can be a part of it, too.

WHAT? (RECOMMENDED FOR APRIL)

There are some amazing things about Easter. This month we’re discovering tons of things about Jesus’ death, resurrection, and love for us that we didn’t know before. Surprising things that make us say, “What?” Can that really be true?

DELIVERY (RECOMMENDED For May)

We see delivery people every day. Whether they work for the post office, Door Dash, UPS, or Amazon, they always carry something that people are waiting for. We have received the message of the good news of God’s love. This is a delivery that we are meant to enjoy ourselves, but also share. It’s our job to become delivery people for God’s good news.

FOREVER (Recommended for June)

We watch movies or shows where amazing things happen and we get excited about the possibilities for the future. But when it’s all said and done, no matter how engaging the story, it’s just a story. It’s not real. One way to think about God is as an artist. Like a writer or movie director for people’s lives. The amazing thing about the stories he writes for our future is that they are better than what we would imagine for ourselves and his ultimate story for each of us lasts forever.

Aim High (RECOMMENDED FOR July)

All of us can be used by God. Even when it seems like we don’t have anything to offer we can trust in the promises of God to sustain us and aim high, because when we’re in line with His will, he will sustain us. He will lift us up.

SPOTLIGHT (Recommended for August)

Sometimes it feels like no matter what you do, someone is watching. Like you’re always in the spotlight. This was the case for a lot of people in the Bible, particularly those who were a part of the family of David, those who were the kings of Israel. Whether this family made mistakes or good decisions, they, like us, could know that God is always with us.

Pick your direction (Recommended for September)

Life is full of choices. Little decisions that send us off in all different directions every day. Making wise choices in the way we talk, doing good, how we treat people, and who we choose to follow can turn every day in to an amazing Adventure with God.

EVERYTHING MATTERS (Recommended for OCTOBER)

The world is so big and there are so many things going on that it can be easy to feel lost at times. To feel like we’re too small to matter. This month we’re reminded that to God, everything matters, big and small. God loves us enough to do big things for small people.

RECIPE (Recommended for NOVEMBER)

It can be easy to skip over Old Testament stories and think they don’t have anything to tell us about our relationship with Jesus. This month we’re looking at ways God prepared His people over centuries of time to be ready for Jesus when he came. When we trust God, talk to him and listen, it is a good recipe for relationship with the God of the Old Testament, New Testament, and today.

GOOD NEWS (Recommended for DECEMBER)

How do you respond to good news? Do you jump, yell, sing, laugh, or do something completely different? Around the world, people respond to the Good News of Jesus’ birth with very different kinds of celebrations, but the thing that unites them all is a Joy that God loves people and came to be with us.
