| International Sabbath School Class |
|
The Arlington SDA International Bible study group started out as an Asian Bible study group in 1994 but gradually gained members from other countries from different continents and thus had to change its name to the International Class.
As international members, most have a different mother tongue other than English. We communicate in English with varied accents unique to the areas from which we immigrated. Some of us have limited English skills, but everyone is free to express themselves knowing most of us members have been there.
It is interesting hearing teachers and members discussing the Bible through the varied cultural perspectives, comparing them with what they have observed in their adopted country. As a result, discussions are very animated and lively. Many members come in dressed in their native formal wear making our group the most colorful group in church. From time to time, our group has contributed to projects in our home countries. We also sponsor a church potluck first Sabbath of each month. Our mission statement is “to witness to our oneness in Christ by bridging boundaries of age, language, race, class, and culture.” Instructor: Laurence Gayao
